The following in an “unofficial” transcript of a team meeting that may or may not have taken place in the 76ers locker room following their disheartening defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers on New Year’s Eve.

Dec. 31 2010, 11:45 pm PT.

Following their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Sixers are having a team party in the visiting locker room of the Staples Center. 

Rod Thorn is asleep on the coach. 

Ed Stefanski wasn’t invited.

Doug Collins: (Holding a gin and tonic.  Not his first) Alright guys, let’s move around the room and give our New Year’s Resolutions for 2011.  Evan, we’ll start with you.

The Philadelphia 76ers will split their two game season series with the New Orleans Hornets after losing 84-77 on Monday night.  Unlike the first time these teams met — with every Hornet not named Paul struggling to hit field goals — the Hornets had a well rounded effort including four players in double scoring figures.  For the 76ers (13-21) the loss comes without the help of starting center Spencer Hawes (back spasms) and star Andre Igoudala who remains sidelined with his Achilles strain. 

The good news last night was the final ball game in the squad’s dreaded eight game road stretch.

The 2011 premiere edition of “Fo’ with the Foes” — Philadunkia’s advanced scouting series which with the help of an accomplished journalist from around the NBA beat or blog world, previews upcoming 76ers opponents — features tonight’s opponent CP3 and the hard-to-figure-out New Orleans Hornets. 

We don’t really like the 76ers chances of winning this eighth and final game of this holiday extended road trip.  As we all know the 76ers sit at 3 wins and 4 L’s on the current west Coast swing, so to come home 4-4 sure would be nice. 

However, a couple of things are working against the 7-6 tonight.  Obviously we have been on the road for 8-games straight now, so fatigue will be a factor.  Secondly, this is a big revenge game for the Hornets who were simply embarrassed by the Sixers in Philadelphia back in early December.  Throw in the fact that since these teams last played, the Hornets (who have been a rollercoaster all year) are playing better basketball and the fact that the NOH are 13-4 at home and we don’t see the Sixers pulling out a W tonight.

It looks like we can put to bed those rumors circulating around the Internet that Allen Iverson could be close to bolting from Besiktas and returning to United States. 

At least for now.

If you recall, “The Answer’s” name was mysteriously absent from two Besiktas box scores prior to Christmas and his absence from the lineup fueled speculation that Iverson was close to returning home.

We attempted to contact the Besiktas Cola Turka club several times for a comment on this matter, but received no return emails or phone calls.  Later it was quietly revealed by Besiktas that Iverson had missed those games because of undisclosed injury.

Well, we’re happy to report that Iverson has already made his 2011 debut for the Black Eagles.

As we sit on the couch attempting to shake off the fog from our New Year’s Eve festivities while pondering yet another 76ers close loss, we thought we would take a minute to metion a fantastic high school event taking place in Philadunkia nation on Sunday. 

Tomorrow (January 2nd) down at The Palestra, the 4th Annual VILLA Holiday Classic will present a slate of games featuring some of the elite high school ballers from Philadelphia and NYC.
