Is there trouble in Turkey?  It certainly seems likely…

Last week there were numerous rumors circulating around the internet and main stream media that Allen Iverson could be close to bolting from Besiktas and returning to United States.

Apparently the Sixers legend and former NBA star is not happy with his role on the team as well as has the criticism his play has received since his arrival in Turkey.

“The Answer” reportedly expressed his disappointment regarding the chemistry between the club and the fans, as reported by Talkbasket.

Of course, Iverson denied the rumors that he is unhappy in Turkey via a posting on his Twitter account.

However this week Iverson’s Besiktas squad had two games and “The Answer’s” name was mysteriously absent from both box scores.

On Saturday Besiktas defeated local Istanbul rival Antalya, 96-75.  The victory was the third consecutive win for Besiktas.  Iverson’s name was no where to be found in the box scores posted on Besiktas’ official website as well as on the very reputable site Eurobasket.com.

Then on Tuesday night, in their fifth Eurocup Group B game, the visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Black Eagles suffered a gut wrenching 101-100 overtime L to Hemofarm Stada of Serbia.  Iverson’s name was again not present in the box scores listed on either of the above mentioned sites.

If the box scores online are correct, then Iverson has not played in a game fro the Black Eagles since December 3rd.

Iverson is averaging 8.7 ppg. in Turkish Basketball League action while he is hitting for 11.5 ppg so far in three Eurocup games.  He is shooting 35% from the field during his time in Turkey thus far.

The Black Eagles next Eurocup game is scheduled for December 21st against Besiktas-Goettingen.  Their next TBL game is scheduled for December 18th vs. Erdemir-Besiktas.

We attempted to contact the Besiktas Cola Turka club several times over the last two days for a comment on this matter, but received no return emails or phone calls.
