IVERSON UPDATE
01/10/11 11:13 am EST
When we last checked in on Allen, he had returned with a vengeance from missing two consecutive games by dropping 26 points in 34 minutes during the Black Eagles 94-72 road loss to TBL opponent Tofas. Allen was 7-11 from the field, hit two 3-pointers and was 6-9 from the charity stripe. He also dished out five assists.
In his next game, Iverson again hauled over 30 minutes (36), but did not have as effective of a night scoring the ball. Allen was 2-6 from the field and 1-4 from deep, finishing with 11 points. Iverson did grab 5 boards and hand out 4 dimes, but it wasn’t enough as Besiktas lost again — 73-71 to TBL foe Galatasaray.
Well we are happy to report that Iverson played his third solid game in a row for Besiktas and hopefully has found his groove over in Turkey.
In the Black Eagles latest game, Iverson scored 17 points and dropped 8 dimes in 39 minutes of burn. Despite Allen’s efforts, Besiktas lost again, 85-83 to visiting Efes Pilsen. “The Answer” hit 5 of his 8 FGAs and also drained 4-5 from the charity stripe. The one knock on his latest outing is that Iverson did commit 4 turnovers vs. Efes Pilsen.
In seven games of Turkish Basketball League action Iverson is averaging 14.3 ppg. while shooting 44% from the field and nearly 43% from deep. He is hitting for 9.3 ppg so far in three Eurocup games.
Besiktas is 7-6 overall in TBL action and is now sitting in 8th place (out of 16 teams).
The Black Eagles next TBL game is scheduled for January 16th vs. Besiktas-Mersin.
