joel-embiid-sixersSixers rookie Joel Embiid might not suit up for the team this season, as he recovers from surgery to repair the navicular bone in his right foot, but for now fans of the player have been thoroughly entertained by his Twitter presence in this past month.

First, Embiid did his best to try and lure LeBron James to Philly, now Embiid has taken to Twitter to try and lure Kanye West’s wife Kim Kardashian to the bedroom.

With only 40 days left until the 2012-13 Sixers season gets underway there is plenty of news to talk about.

  • Sixers announce that senior vice president of basketball operations Tony DiLeo has now become the teams new General Manager. I like DiLeo as a person. I thought he did a pretty good job of coaching the team in the 2008-09 season, while almost upsetting the eventual Eastern Conference champion Orlando Magic in the playoffs that year. I think the Sixers keeping the position in house isn’t necessarily a bad thing. DiLeo has proved to be a valuable asset in changing the culture of the Sixers around in the past 5 years. It also gives coach Collins some more say in what moves are made which I feel is a good thing as well, rather than the debacles which have occurred from the likes of Billy King and Ed Stefanski over the years. iggytwit-copyIIThe newest generation of basketball players is in and to go along with their blogs and twitter feeds is now UStream. UStream is a site just like Skype that is used for video chats, but it is becoming hotter by the day among young NBA players. Kevin Durant, Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard, Jason Thompson, Stephon Marbury, J.R. Smith, and Eddy Curry have all been users of the site as well as two very familiar faces to Philadunkia nation: Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams. I caught up with Andre Iguodala and Lou on their UStream broadcasts a couple nights ago. It was pretty entertaining and they were able to answer most of their fans questions as well as mine that were fed through the chat section of the video stream.
